The College of Engineering and Computing honored faculty and staff members during a staff meeting and awards ceremony Oct. 24.

Three Dean’s Scholars were announced:

• Dr. Jie Gao, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
• Dr. Aditya Kumar, assistant professor of materials science and engineering
• Dr. Hongyan Ma, assistant professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering.

Two Dean’s Educators were announced:

• Dr. Katherine Grote, associate professor of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering
• Dr. Ryan Hutcheson, associate teaching professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.

The college recognized faculty members awarded patents for their research in the past year:

• Dr. Sutapa Barua, assistant professor of chemical and biochemical engineering
• Dr. Bill Fahrenholtz, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of ceramic engineering and director of the Materials Research Center
• Dr. Mehdi Ferdowsi, professor and associate chair of electrical engineering
• Dr. Greg Hilmas, Curators’ Distinguished Professor and chair of ceramic engineering
• Dr. Jie Huang, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering
• Dr. Robert Landers, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
• Dr. Ming Leu, Keith and Pat Bailey Missouri Distinguished Professor of Integrated Product Manufacturing in mechanical and aerospace engineering
• Dr. Jonghyun Park, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
• Dr. Jagannathan Sarangapani, William A. Rutledge-Emerson Electric Company Distinguished Professor of electrical and computer engineering
• Dr. Pourya Shamsi, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering
• Jeremy Watts, post-doctoral fellow in materials science and engineering.

Staff members were presented the following awards:

• Team Impact Award: Kyle Stagner, senior electronics technician in mechanical and aerospace engineering
• Rookie of the Year Award: Kevin Hasner, senior electronics technician in electrical and computer engineering
• Student Service Award: C. DeWayne Phelps, senior lab mechanic in mining and nuclear engineering
• Extra Mile Award: Elaina Manson, office support assistant in computer science
• Loyalty Award: Darlene Turner, administrative associate in civil, architectural and environmental engineering
• Peer-to-Peer Award: Michelle Emerson, student support specialist in engineering management and systems engineering.
