Missouri S&T’s inaugural Student Emergency Fund Bake-off on Nov. 5 was a sweet success, raising $650 to provide financial support for students with unexpected emergency expenses.

To cast a ballot, voters made a small donation to the fund. The winners are:

  • Cookies category: Madison Thomas, a 2019 civil engineering graduate, for her sugar cookie entry
  • Fudge category: Linnea Lehman, daughter of staff members Krista Morris-Lehman and Christian Lehman
  • Other sweet treat category: Stephanie Fitch, teaching professor of mathematics and statistics, for her baklava entry.

“Thanks to everyone who donated,” says Krista Morris-Lehman, senior care coordinator. “The emergency fund truly helps students — not only with basic needs, but it keeps them at S&T. We’ve been extremely busy this year with fund requests and this money is greatly appreciated.”

Dr. Diana Ahmad, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor of history, led the planning committee. It included representatives from history and political science, the registrar’s office, University Police, counseling services, and marketing and communications.
