Belfi in lab

All are invited to attend a talk by Dr. Amy Belfi, assistant professor of psychological science, titled “Your Brain on Music.” The presentation is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 in the Rolla Public House Brewing Company loft at 600 N. Rolla St. and is part of S&T’s Research on Tap series.

“Music is a ubiquitous part of the human experience,” says Belfi. “While it was once thought of as ‘auditory cheesecake,’ we now know that music influences, and can help us understand, diverse cognitive functions such as memory, emotion, and decision-making. In this talk, I will present several lines of work that focus on the relationships between music, emotion, and memory and how these are represented in the brain.”

Research on Tap provides an opportunity for students, faculty and the community at large to explore their curiosity and interact in a casual setting with researchers from a range of academic disciplines.
