Dr. Marek Locmelis, assistant professor of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering, co-authored a study published in Nature Communications on Aug. 5.
The study found that ore deposits at different depths are not isolated zones where happenstance has produced mineralization. Instead, such deposits are local depositional points along mantle-to-upper crust pathways of magmas and hydrothermal fluids.
