Get out your oven mitts and get ready to throw down (or preheat) for the Student Emergency Fund Bake-off 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, in the lobby of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library. A vote will determine the winners.

There is no fee to enter your baked goods. The categories and accepted items will be:

  • Fudge-off category: fudge in a 13-by-9-inch pan
  • Cookie-off category: 36 cookies, small (up to the size of an Oreo) or bite-size pieces, packaged in bags for voters
  • Sweet treats category: all other homemade items that do not fall into the fudge-off or cookie-off categories. Please divide and bag into bite-sized portions for voters.

To enter your food into the bake-off, contact Dr. Diana Ahmad at 341-4817 or ahmadd@mst.edu by Wednesday, Oct. 30, and let her know what you will bring. Please note if there are peanuts in your recipe.

At the event on Nov. 5, you can vote on your favorite baked good in one of the categories by making a small donation to the Student Emergency Fund. The cost will be $5 for faculty and staff and $3 for students to sample entries in a category and vote for their favorite. Baked goods will also be sold individually. All proceeds will benefit the Student Emergency Fund.

Prizes and bragging rights will go to the first-place winner in each category.

The event is organized by a committee of individuals in history and political science, the registrar’s office, and marketing and communications.
