The safety of students, faculty members, and staff members is a top priority for Missouri S&T and the University of Missouri. Students, faculty, and staff who travel internationally may encounter additional safety and health risks. University of Missouri Collected Rules and Regulations, CRR 210.070, requires that all students who travel internationally on behalf of the university, and faculty/staff who travel with students, must register their travel.
All university-sponsored or university-related international travel by students or faculty/staff traveling with students requires two forms of approval. Approval should be granted before any expenses are incurred for the travel.
1. Risk management approval
2. Academic or administrative department approval
For risk management purposes, travel is separated into two levels – standard risk and elevated risk – as determined by the U.S. Department of State Travel advisory levels and Centers for Disease Control travel health notices. Requests for approval should be submitted at least 45 days prior to travel for standard risk destinations and at least 60 days prior to travel for elevated risk destinations.
The Traveling on Behalf of S&T web page also includes resources to assist travelers.
