The Missouri S&T STEP UP! bystander intervention committee is looking for new members. Members help create a safe and healthy campus environment and get opportunities for professional development.
Bystander intervention training is a community-based approach to prevention. STEP UP! training teaches participants the five decision-making step model, bystander strategies, intervention styles and how to overcome barriers.
As a committee member, you can participate on subcommittees based on your interests or skills that you want to build. You can work with others to develop and provide training sessions, promote awareness and branding through social marketing, or track outcomes and assessment data. STEP UP! helps students recognize problematic events and increases their motivation, skills and confidence when responding to problems or concerns. For more information or to join the committee, please email stepup@mst.edu.
