S&T parking violation fines have increased. The new fines became effective on July 1. Missouri S&T’s Parking Committee approved the new ticket costs as a way to deter individuals from violating parking rules and regulations. View the new violation fees.
S&T has had, and continues to have, some of the lowest violation fees of the four universities in the University of Missouri System.
As one example of a violation, the previous S&T fine for a permit holder who parks in a lot for which he or she does not have a permit was $10; the fine is now $25. Employees or students who park in a visitor lot or space were previously fined $10; the fine is now $25.
All funds generated from parking fines go to parking facilities and operations, per university policy.
The Parking Committee also approved more stringent towing guidelines. Previously, an individual could be towed on their 13th parking violation; now the vehicle may be towed on the seventh violation in a one-year period.
The towing guidelines were changed because several individuals routinely violated the parking regulations. This behavior inhibits others from being able to park within the guidelines and hinders those who have purchased permits.
