Interim co-CIOs named

Following the retirement of Dan Uetrecht, chief information officer, two individuals will share interim CIO responsibilities. Cathy Allison and Mark Bookout will serve as interim co-chief information officers, starting Monday, July 1.

Allison joined S&T in 2008. She currently serves as the senior IT director for IT campus technology support, which includes IT media services, academic technology support, learning environments, desktop support, the IT help desk and campus innovation support.  

Allison holds a master’s degree in business administration from Rockhurst College and a bachelor’s degree in industrial management from Southwest Missouri State University. She holds certifications in ITIL, ITSM, Six Sigma and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and an Agile ScrumMaster. 

Mark Bookout
Mark Bookout

Bookout has served S&T for 22 years and is currently director for research support services. The department includes Minerfly, Minerbytes, cluster computing, high-performance desktops, software support and Linux support.

Bookout’s primary professional training is in the area of software engineering, with work experience in the U.S. Air Force, private business and academic environments. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Park College.

Uetrecht worked in Missouri S&T’s IT department for more than 30 years. He was named interim chief information officer in 2015 and then CIO in 2017. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from Missouri S&T.
