S&T’s Alpha Epsilon Pi chapter invites everyone to participate in the “We Walk to Remember” event to remember the victims of the Holocaust, starting at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, beginning at the Puck and ending at approximately 2:15 p.m. at the Havener Center.
If you would like to participate, please meet at the Puck at 1:45 p.m. wearing a black or dark shirt with minimal graphics on it. You will receive a name of a victim from the Holocaust to read aloud, a “never forget” sticker to apply to your shirt or other material and a “We Walk to Remember” handout. You are free to join in the reading of Holocaust victim names.
This event will begin with a poem titled “Unto Every Person, There is a Name.” The group will walk to Curtis Laws Wilson Library, where participants will read the names provided to them, and then the walk will continue and finish at the Havener Center.
B’Nai B’rith International has been the North American sponsor of “Unto Every Person, There Is a Name” ceremonies since 1989. S&T’s event was originally scheduled last week in recognition of Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) but was rescheduled due to weather.
