National Prevention Week, which focuses on preventing suicide, will conclude Friday, May 17. The overall theme of “Inspiring Action. Changing Lives” reminds us that there is something each of us can do to change lives for the better. Counseling Services notes that the Missouri S&T Suicide Prevention Training Program was designed to help faculty, staff and students prevent suicide by teaching how to: identify people at risk for suicide; recognize protective factors and warning signs of suicide; respond to the signs and get help. Don’t wait. Take 15 minutes to complete the “Ask. Listen. Refer.” training at www.asklistenrefer.org/mst.
