Dr. Kate Sheppard, associate professor of history and political science, was named the 2019 Woman of the Year during an awards ceremony held April 24 at Hasselmann Alumni House.
During the ceremony, Dr. Katie Shannon was presented the Dr. Elizabeth Cummins Women’s Advocate Award. Shannon is an associate teaching professor of biological sciences and director of the Laboratory of Cytokinesis at S&T. The award is named in honor of Dr. Elizabeth Cummins, professor emerita of English and technical communication. She was the first woman to chair an academic department at S&T and the first recipient of the Woman of the Year Award.
