Students and police at Rolla Mission

S&T students and University Police officers delivered approximately $1,300 worth of food and non-perishable items to the Rolla Mission on Feb. 21. Students donated eggs, milk, ground beef, sardines, crackers, granola bars, hygiene products, paper goods and several other items.

Ashley Brooks, executive director of the Rolla Mission, thanked the students and officers delivering the items.

“This is such a blessing,” she says. “We’re going to be able to feed so many people. Thank you so much.”

Students in the following four Greek organizations raised funds and purchased the items: Omega Sigma sorority and Kappa Sigma, Sigma Tau Gamma and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternities. The police officers helped the students deliver the donations.

Located in downtown Rolla, the Rolla Mission offers a free laundry area, shower facility, meals and shelter for community members in need. Volunteers provide more than 1,800 meals monthly and an average of 18 individuals stay overnight at the emergency winter shelter.
