Red folder initiative

Counseling services, in partnership with UCARE, is continuing its Red Folder initiative for Missouri S&T staff and faculty. Red Folders serve as a quick reference guide to help staff and faculty identify common signs of distress, what to do when they encounter a student who may be in distress and information on where to direct students for appropriate resources.

The department’s goal is for all S&T staff and faculty to have access to the Red Folder. An email was sent out Tuesday, March 19, to administrative and support staff with a PDF attachment of the document, in hopes that it will be passed along to staff and faculty working with students. The web file can also be found at counseling.mst.edu/redfolder. Counseling services would value any feedback regarding the folder and its services.

Care coordination is available to provide a 10-15 minute overview of the Red Folder and how to work with students who are in distress. Contact the department care coordinator, Krista Morris-Lehman, for assistance or to schedule a brief training.
