Are you looking for a way to stay in shape or exercise during cold winter weather? Leach Theatre will open its doors 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for a step challenge. The challenge will run from Tuesday, Jan. 22, to Thursday, Feb. 28.

The theater’s 180-step auditorium and lobby will be open, and the staff will kick on the lights, rev up some music and let you get your steps on. If you log 12,000 steps on the Leach Theatre stairs and walkways, you’ll earn a free ticket to an upcoming show.

To participate in the step challenge, check in with your Miner ID card and your step counter at the Box Office at any time between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Step counters can include pedometers, wearable fitness trackers such as FitBits, and phone apps. Sign in with your starting step count and then sign out with your ending step count when you’re finished.

Ticket prizes are limited to Missouri S&T faculty, staff and students. The challenge route includes the steps, walkways and aisles of the Leach auditorium, and steps and walkways on both floors of Castleman Hall’s lobby.
