New rules recently adopted by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission related to property disclosure requirements for mining registrants have a Missouri S&T connection. Dr. Kwame Awuah-Offei, associate professor and interim director of mining engineering, worked for the SEC from early February 2015 to mid-August 2016 in Washington, D.C., to craft amendments to mining property disclosure rules that have been in place for more than three decades. The SEC adopted those amendments on Oct. 31.
