New lab safety training modules are available online for students and faculty. This training replaces the previous General Laboratory Safety Training (GLST) courses and is mandatory for S&T graduate students who work in research labs and research faculty. To access the training, visit the Missouri S&T training website and log in using your university password.

Each module takes approximately 15-30 minutes to complete. The training can be completed in multiple settings.

The following modules are required:

  • University Laboratory Safety – Analyzing Hazards
  • University Laboratory Safety – Developing and Using Controls
  • University Laboratory Safety – Working Safely
  • Laboratory Safety
  • Emergency and Fire Preparedness
  • Portable Fire Extinguisher Safety
  • Compressed Gas Safety
  • Hazard Communication
  • Personal Protective Equipment

S&T’s environmental health and safety and information technology staff developed the new training program using the Vivid Training learning management system. The modules were piloted last semester and are now ready to be used throughout the university.

If you would like additional training for your lab or department, please contact Michelle Bresnahan, director of environmental health and safety, at 341-4305 or mem@mst.edu.  If you have difficulties with the website or training modules, please contact the IT Help Desk for assistance at 341-4357 (HELP), visit the desk on the first floor of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library or submit a ticket online at help.mst.edu.
