Grant goes to produce play

Missouri Humanities logoBased on the efforts of Dr. Jeanne Stanley, associate professor of arts, languages, and philosophy, Missouri S&T has received a grant from the Missouri Humanities Council with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The $2,500 grant, which will be matched by Missouri S&T, is to create a platform for understanding between cultures through S&T’s theater program.

The grant supports the production of Anon(ymous), a play by Naomi Iizuka Based on Homer’s Odyssey, that will be performed by a multicultural cast. Along with the performance, S&T’s theater program is teaming up with the university’s diversity and inclusion and counseling staff to create multicultural activities and idea-sharing opportunities inspired by the play.

Anon(ymous) will be presented in Leach Theatre at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21. Tickets cost $6 for students and children under 12 and $12 for general admission.
