Missouri S&T’s policy II-26, “Externally Funded Graduate Assistantships” has been temporarily suspended until Monday, Dec. 31. In the meantime, a committee will evaluate the policy on graduate student tuition waivers.

The committee includes representation from graduate students, administrative leaders and faculty. The committee members are:

  • Dr. Mariesa Crow, the Fred W. Finley Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Dr. Richard Dawes, professor of chemistry
  • Dr. Rainer Glaser, professor and chair of chemistry
  • Dr. Greg Hilmas, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of ceramic engineering and chair of materials science and engineering
  • Dr. Kamal Khayat, the Vernon and Maralee Jones Professor of Civil Engineering and director of the Center for Infrastructure Engineering Studies
  • Dr. Angela Lueking, associate dean of research in the College of Engineering and Computing
  • Adriane Melnyczuk, graduate student in petroleum engineering and president of the Council of Graduate Students

The committee will submit its recommendations to Dr. Costas Tsatsoulis, vice chancellor of research and dean of graduate studies, and S&T’s Policy Council.

Currently enrolled graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) and graduate research assistants (GRAs) who are covered by the tuition remission program will continue to receive that support for as long as they remain in an eligible assistantship.
