University Assessment Committee re-established, members announced

Dr. Robert Marley, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, announced on Aug. 10 the re-establishment of the University Assessment Committee. The committee will serve as a faculty-led process to gauge the continual improvement of student learning.

Committee members are:
• Dr. Nancy Stone, professor of psychological science and committee chair
• Dr. Steve Clark, professor and chair of mathematics and statistics
• Dr. Cassie Elrod, associate professor of business and information technology
• Dr. Dan Reardon, associate professor of English and technical communication
• Tyrone Davidson, director of academic advising
• Rachel Morris, assistant vice provost for student support
• Dr. Wayne Huebner, co-chair of the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE) and professor of materials science and engineering
• Dr. Doug Ludlow, professor of chemical and biochemical engineering and director of freshman engineering
• Dr. Steve Raper, associate professor of engineering management and systems engineering
Ex Officio support includes:
• Abby Bigg, coordinator for the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence
• Dr. Daniel Forciniti, associate provost for faculty affairs
• Dr. Caprice Moore, associate provost for administration
The goals and charge of the committee are:
• To identify and review current program assessment tools and techniques for all academic programs and provide recommendations for improvements to the deans, department chairs, and program directors
• To develop a campus assessment process, incorporating policies, procedures and assessment tools
• To prompt departments to define, inventory and assess student learning at the department level
To develop shared language for assessment and oversee conduct of department activities related to assessment of learning experiences for undergraduate, graduate, and general education learning outcomes.
