The new student programs staff is pleased to announce that Union Pacific will once again sponsor Opening Week’s Project X. New students will be divided into 85 mentor groups, guided by upperclassmen mentors, and modify a remote-controlled vehicle. Groups will be judged on several objectives, including design, creativity, oral presentation, and written reflection. Union Pacific representatives will assist new students and judge their projects.

Opening Week runs from Sunday, Aug. 12, through Saturday, Aug. 18. Project X will conclude Friday, Aug. 17, with a team competition racing throughout the heart of campus. Races begin outside Schrenk Hall at 8:30 a.m. and finish at the Havener Center around 4 p.m. Top teams will be recognized at an awards ceremony at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, in the Havener Center. Mark your calendars to attend this S&T tradition and help welcome new students to campus.
