UM System’s guidelines on dues, memberships updated

University of Missouri System President Mun Choi signed in July an executive order to revise Collected Rule and Regulation (CRR) 360.120 to clarify appropriate use of university funds for dues and membership in organizations.
“I want to thank faculty council members who shared feedback and suggested review of the original CRR, issued in 1974,” Choi says. “The revised version will provide consistency among all four universities and better support faculty and staff, while ensuring we remain good fiscal stewards.”
The updated policy includes a university-level approval of memberships to eliminate duplicative memberships wherever possible. Individual memberships in professional societies and associations that relate to an individual’s job and support the university’s mission are allowable, subject to other relevant policies.
