The Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence has changed its proposal deadlines from set dates to rolling acceptance for the following funding opportunities:

  • Professional Development Travel Fund for early career faculty
  • Mini-Sabbatical program
  • Publishing results from past mini-grants

Through this change, the CAFE staff hopes to accommodate the schedules and professional development needs of more faculty. Proposals for these programs will be accepted on a rolling basis, as long as funding is available for the fiscal year. More details are below and online under the funding tab at

Professional Development Travel Fund: available to all full-time pre-tenure and pre-promotion tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty. Up to $1,000 is available to support travel to conferences, workshops or meeting with fund managers. Early-career faculty are eligible to apply once per academic year. Get more details.

Mini-Sabbatical Program: Available to all full-time tenure-track, tenured, or non-tenure-track faculty with a focus on mid-career faculty seeking to initiate new research and teaching endeavors. This program seeks to provide funding necessary to enable a short term (two months or less) stay at an external location to build new collaborations, pursue funding opportunities, or to create or enhance courses. Get more information.

Publishing results from mini-grants: The educational research mini-grant program, previously offered by CERTI and other units on campus, funds scholarly inquiry into a question about teaching and learning. All awardees who successfully completed an educational research project are eligible to apply for up to $1,000 to support the cost of disseminating your project results. Get more information.
