Dr. William Schonberg and Luce Myers recently co-authored the paper, “Technology as Art and Art as Technology – Educating Museum Audiences Through Artistic Endeavor.” It appears in the April 2018 issue of Caribbean Museums, a publication of the Museums Association of the Caribbean.
Schonberg is a professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering. Myers is a lecturer in arts, languages and philosophy.
The paper posits that because technology is integral to our daily lives, it shapes how our society evolves and, therefore, to be a contributing member of today’s society, everyone should be technologically literate.
The paper provides examples of how museums can provide technological literacy to a global society. In particular, it focuses on the implementation of such endeavors in the Caribbean, noting the important roles that local customs and traditions would play in the process.
