What do J.R.R. Tolkien and Ferris Bueller have in common? Both are being quoted on inspirational signs placed around campus during finals week. The posters, sponsored by the Chancellor’s Committee for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI), are designed to encourage students during a time that can be stressful.

The signs are placed in high-traffic student areas, including the Havener Center, Curtis Laws Wilson Library, Bertelsmeyer Hall and residential halls. Cheryl Lillie, assistant teaching professor of arts, languages and philosophy and a CCDI member, learned about London artist Andy Leek’s art project, “Notes to Strangers,” and suggested doing something similar for S&T students.
