Christopher Maples, interim chancellor, provided budget briefings for staff, faculty and students during two sessions yesterday. Watch a video or review slides from his presentation.

Maples discussed current higher education funding trends and recapped strategies for that were used for the current budget (fiscal year 2018). He then presented strategies for the coming fiscal year and shared campus plans to reduce and reinvest approximately $5.7 million, including approximately $2 million for a two percent pool for merit pay increases. He encouraged the audience to think of ways to help S&T thrive in the future by enhancing our revenue and reputation.

“I like the group here I’m with and I really think we may look back at this time and think how we changed our trajectory,” Maples said. “We will continue to look to the future and until then, I ask you all to think hard, ‘what can we do to help?’”
