Petra DeWitt’s article, “Heroines on the Home Front: World War I and the Council of National Defense’s Woman’s Committee, Missouri Division,” is featured in the April issue of the Missouri Historical Review.
DeWitt explains in the article how these women’s committees laid the foundation for postwar female activism and also explores social and racial tensions during the war in Missouri.
