Lecturer to discuss nanotechnology-enabled water treatment

Alvarez will present a lecture titled “Nanotechnology-Enabled Water Treatment: A Vision to Enable Decentralized Water Treatment and Address Growing Challenges of the Water Energy Nexus” at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Alvarez is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and an Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP) distinguished lecturer. He is the George R. Brown Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rice University in Houston. He leads a National Science Foundation Energy Research Center on nanotechnology-enabled water treatment.

The lecture is sponsored by S&T’s civil, architectural and environmental engineering department and Center for Research in Energy and Environment.
