Dr. Mun Choi, president of the University of Missouri System, and Dr. Christopher Maples, interim chancellor of Missouri S&T, led a fireside chat yesterday for the campus community. During the event in Leach Theatre, Choi announced that the national search process for a permanent chancellor will begin in September. He said that an outside firm will not be used for the process and an inclusive search committee comprising students, faculty, staff, alumni and committee members will be instrumental in the search process.
Choi appointed Maples as interim chancellor in May 2017 with the provision that Maples would not be a candidate for the permanent chancellor position. Choi said that, having seen a positive impact at S&T, he has since reconsidered and would welcome Maples as an applicant.
At the forum, students, faculty, staff and trustees asked questions on topics including research resources, rankings and reputation, policies for admission and transferring credits, and resources for design teams.
