When we don’t get enough sleep, we may have a hard time thinking, be cranky and slowly damage our bodies, which can lead to health problems like diabetes and cardiovascular issues.
Dr. Matthew Thimgan, assistant professor of biological sciences, will talk about sleep at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at the next “Research on Tap” lecture on the second-floor loft of Public House Brewing Co. in Rolla. The talk begins at 6:30 p.m. but please arrive early to grab a seat and maybe a drink.
Thimgan will provide general information about sleep and talk about the impact of sleep deprivation. In addition, he will discuss how S&T researchers are trying to identify sleepiness in humans, and how sleep deprivation can result in declining health and lifespan.
