The student diversity initiatives staff is launching a gender-affirming clothing closet as well as a food and household goods pantry. These services are provided free to students. Anyone can donate by bringing items to the Diversity House from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Monetary donations will also be accepted, with all money used to purchase supplies and maintain the closet and pantry. For more information, please contact Cynthia Guess, operations manager, at cguess@mst.edu or 341-4215.
The clothing closet, “Closets are for Clothes” is now accepting donations for clean, gently used and new men’s and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories. Clothing will be for trans and gender transitioning students, allowing them access to gently used or new gender-affirming clothing. The purpose of this service is to help alleviate the financial burden of transitioning or coming out. While members of the LGBTQIA+ community are given priority access to this resource, all S&T students who have a need for the service may use it accordingly.
The food pantry, “Commuters’ Commodities,” is accepting donations of non-perishable food, small household goods, cleaning supplies and hygiene products. This will help commuter students and all students in need of assistance.
