Missouri S&T’s environmental health and safety department provides a Canvas course, General Laboratory Safety Training (GLST). All Missouri S&T graduate students are required to complete the course before entering a campus laboratory. If you have not previously taken the training, please sign up for GLST. After signing up, you will receive an email with a link to the course in Canvas. The course will take approximately 1-2 hours to complete. It can be taken in multiple increments or one setting, depending on the students’ preference.

The course covers general safety principals, such as chemical safety, waste disposal, safety data sheets and proper use of personal protective equipment. For more in-depth safety training or a hands-on workshop, please contact Jimmy Rolufs, senior environmental health professional, at rolufsjd@mst.edu.

The environmental health and safety department is also piloting a safety training program with a new learning management system. If the pilot is successful, the team will implement the training in Fall 2018 for the entire campus community.
