Aaron Erb, a Ph.D. student in aerospace engineering, has been awarded a Pathways Internship with the Vehicle Analysis Branch of the NASA Langley Research Center. Erb’s Ph.D. advisor is Dr. Serhat Hosder, associate professor of aerospace engineering.

Erb’s research focuses on the verification, validation and uncertainty quantification of turbulence models used in the numerical modeling of supersonic and hypersonic flows, which is conducted under NASA’s Commercial Supersonic Technology project.

Erb’s research also will focus on the validation and improvement of turbulence models used in the design of hypersonic vehicles that fly at speeds greater than five times the speed of sound.
