Dr. Stephen Roberts, vice provost and dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business, will help the Ozark River Audubon Chapter kick off the 2018 Year of the Bird — a joint, yearlong effort from the National Audubon Society, National Geographic, BirdLife International and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The year is in celebration of birds and the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
In a talk for a general audience, Roberts will discuss birding and wildlife encounters from the deserts, jungles and polar regions. All are invited to the event at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Eugene E. Northern Community Hall, located at 400 W. 4th St. in Rolla. The talk will be 30 minutes long followed by questions. Light refreshments will be served, and there will be a drawing for door prizes. Learn more at birdyourworld.org and use hashtag #YearoftheBird.
