‘Art educator of the year’ award goes to Shoemaker

Connie Shoemaker, lecturer in arts, languages, and philosophy, has been chosen by the National Art Education Association (NAEA) as the Western Region Art Educator of the Year and the Western Region Secondary Art Educator of the Year.
The western region includes Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Manitoba, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Northwest Territory, Ohio, Oklahoma, Saskatchewan, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin.
The NAEA’s award program recognizes excellence in outstanding individuals, associations and programs, seeking to focus professional attention on quality art education and to set standards on how it can be achieved.
Shoemaker’s award will be presented at the NAEA national convention in March in Seattle.
