Two faculty members in the civil, architectural and environmental engineering department are being honored by the American Concrete Institute (ACI). Dr. Kamal Khayat and Dr. Dimitri Feys will receive awards at the ACI spring 2018 Concrete Convention and Exposition in Salt Lake City in March.
Khayat, the Vernon and Maralee Jones Professor of Civil Engineering and director of the Center for Infrastructure Engineering Studies, will receive the ACI Wason Medal for Most Meritorious Paper. Khayat was co-author of a June 2016 paper in the journal Concrete International on a large-scale experimental investigation to measure the form pressures exerted by self-consolidating concrete.
Feys, assistant professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, will receive the ACI Young Member Award for Professional Achievement. Feys’ award is for his “contributions to a better understanding of concrete rheology and transferring concrete rheological principles into practice.”
