Dr. Ben Gross, associate vice president for collections at the Linda Hall Library in Kansas City, will give a presentation, “TVs of Tomorrow” at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in Room 227 Fulton Hall.
Gross will discuss the development of the first liquid crystal displays (LCDs) by RCA in the 1960s. He will also discuss RCA’s failed efforts to commercialize the technology that would ultimately find a home in our laptops, cell phones and flat-screen televisions.
Gross’ book, also named “The TVs of Tomorrow,” is forthcoming from the University of Chicago Press. His presentation is hosted by Missouri S&T’s history and political science department.
