Missouri S&T has recently been re-accredited to have its employees work in federal government ranks for a period of up to two years with salaries reimbursed to the university.
As part of the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (commonly called the “IPA program”), the federal government can borrow expertise from the public and private sectors. This is useful for the university’s dealings with Fort Leonard Wood, the National Science Foundation and other organizations.
Several university employees have worked at the Fort over the last decade. The program can also be used to borrow government workers, such as scientists, to serve for several years on campus as researchers, staff or faculty.
