The campus community is invited to congratulate Bob Phelan for his many years of service at a retirement reception 2:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, in Room 116 of the Kummer Student Design Center. If you can only drop by for a short period of time, please join the design center staff and students from 3:30-4 p.m. to honor Phelan in “roast” fashion with a large side of humor.
Phelan is currently the outreach manager of S&T’s Student Design and Experiential Learning Center. His long history with this university started in the early ’90s when he volunteered at public radio station KMST. In 1995, he began serving as a photographer for the campus. In 2001, he talked his way into going to Australia with the solar car design team as a photographer and writer, and then he officially started working on campus in 2002.
While at the design center, Phelan continued working with a large cohort of departments and groups on campus as a photographer and writer.
Not your traditional employee or retiree, Phelan has been a part of the fabric of S&T for many years — and he plans to remain active on campus following retirement. Want to send in a few words or a video for him? Please submit a short video or email to the Student Design and Experiential Learning Center at sdelc@mst.edu.
