The Writing Center and the Campus Arts Committee will host a reception to introduce an exhibit of paintings by Byron Calavaza, an artist of the Zuni Pueblo in western New Mexico. Calavaza’s acrylics give expression to traditional elements of Zuni spirituality. Attend the opening exhibit 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, in the Writing Center, located in Room 113 Campus Support Facility.
Light refreshments will be served, and at 7 p.m. Dr. Ted Frisbie, professor emeritus of anthropology at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, will give a brief introduction to the artist’s work and his community. The paintings are on display now and will remain on display through Dec. 8. For more information, contact the Writing Center at 341-4436.
