Do you identify as a first-generation college student? Maybe neither of your parents attended college or maybe they started, but never finished. Being a first-generation college student can be scary and confusing sometimes because you’re like a pioneer, finding your own way. We understand which is why we’ve developed S&T Trailblazers – a program for first-generation college students and those who want to know more about navigating college as a first-gen. S&T Trailblazers will take place Wednesday, November 1st from 4:00-6:00pm in the Student Diversity House (605 W. 11th Street, across the street from Bertelsmeyer Hall). Become inspired and encouraged as you listen to first-generation faculty and students share their stories and discuss what resources they used to help them conquer undergrad. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Carla Bates, professor of Business & Information Technology. We’re also excited to offer a staff and student mentor-mentee program this year! Assemble your own first-gen community and discover how you can blaze a new trail! Heavy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will also be served.
