Alumnus to present today’s O’Keefe lecture

Dr. Martin Perez, an S&T alumnus, will present the ninth annual Dr. Thomas J. O’Keefe Lecture at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in Room 204 McNutt Hall. His lecture is titled “Applied Imagination — The Secret to Innovation.” A reception for Perez will be held at 2:45-3:15 in McNutt Commons.

Perez earned his master’s degree and Ph.D., both in metallurgical engineering, from Missouri S&T. He has worked in corporate research and development for 10 years and currently serves as a research and development engineer for Kennametal in Latrobe, Penn.

The Dr. Thomas J. O’Keefe Lecture Series was created in memory of O’Keefe, Curators’ Distinguished Professor emeritus of metallurgical engineering. He earned his bachelor’s and Ph.D. degrees from the university and taught in the metallurgical engineering department from 1953 until his death in 2008. The lecture series is funded by Joe and Sally Rupp. Joe Rupp was a student of O’Keefe’s and earned his metallurgical engineering degree from S&T.
