Students moving into residence halls during Opening Week

Opening Week Orientation will be a week of academics, interactive programs and social activities for approximately 1,500 new freshmen. The week will begin with new freshmen moving in Saturday, Aug. 12, and conclude Saturday, Aug. 19. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend all Opening Week events to welcome our new students to campus. Mark your calendar for convocation, Missouri S&T’s official welcome, at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, in the Student Recreation Center in the Gale Bullman Building.

Throughout the week, new students will be welcomed to campus and:

  • Complete an academic workshop
  • Learn about campus and college life
  • Participate in Project X, a team experiential learning project
  • Attend entertainment and social events, such as a welcome picnic, performances by a comedian and hypnotist, a Vegas-themed game night, an ice-cream social and an outdoor movie.

Cheer for your favorite team during Project X races and check out the vehicles on display in the Havener Center Atrium Friday, Aug. 18.

Campus participation in Opening Week sends a strong message of caring and encouraging success for our new students.
