Professor receives governor’s award

Dr. Xiaoping Du, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Missouri S&T, is the 2017 recipient of the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Du, who teaches introduction to engineering design, dynamics and probabilistic engineering design, has been a member of the S&T faculty since 2002.
The award is based on effective teaching, innovating course design and delivery, effective advising, service to the university community, commitment to high standards of excellence, and success in nurturing student achievement.
