Missouri S&T’s Staff Council recently created a scholarship program that will assist staff members who are furthering their education. Through the program, full-time S&T employees enrolled in at least one class at Missouri S&T or another University of Missouri System campus can apply for a $250 scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded twice each year, for the spring and fall semesters.

Missouri S&T’s inaugural staff scholarship will be awarded in July for the fall 2017 semester. An educational scholarship review committee is currently reviewing the blind applications. The deadline for the spring semester will be Wednesday, Nov. 1, and details will be announced in future issues of eConnection.

Joe Boehm, past chair of Staff Council, said the idea for S&T’s program came from an Intercampus Staff Council meeting where he learned about University of Missouri-Columbia’s staff scholarship program. Through MU’s program, MU’s Staff Council awards $250 scholarships for the spring and fall semesters annually.

Missouri S&T’s scholarships will be funded by proceeds from Staff Council’s yearly food auction on Staff Day as well as donations. If you would like to donate to Staff Council’s Employee Scholarship Program, please contact Shasta Lawrence, student support specialist and treasurer of Staff Council, at 341-4209 or shastaj@mst.edu.
