Geosciences graduate student garners scholarship

The Society of Economic Geologists has awarded Yuanyuan Xia a student research grant from the Hugo T. Dummett Mineral Discovery Fund for innovation and technology development in exploration. Xia is a master’s degree student in the geology and geophysics program in the geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering department.
The grant will support Xia’s thesis research on the development of new geochemical exploration tools for magmatic sulfide deposits. Xia’s thesis advisor is Dr. Marek Locmelis, assistant professor of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering.
