Learn how the innovators of today are facing the challenges of tomorrow at a TEDx talk hosted by Missouri S&T 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 6, in Leach Theatre. Of the eight speakers, four are faculty or staff members at Missouri S&T. Speakers and their topics will include:
- “The Power of School Breakfast” by Jon Barry, director of No Kid Hungry Missouri
- “Time Travel — One Second at A Time” by Terry Barner, senior video producer in marketing and communications at Missouri S&T
- “Rethinking Plants for Engineering” by Dr. Joel Burken, Curators’ Distinguished Professor and chair of civil, architectural and environmental engineering at Missouri S&T
- “Dweck’s Mindset” by Chad Fong, mental conditioning coach and owner of Helm Mental Conditioning
- “Community Engagement through the Arts” by Matthew Kerns, executive director of St Lou Fringe and director of community engagement and programming for the Grand Center Arts District in St. Louis
- “The Influence of ‘Scientism’” by Dr. Jossalyn Larson, assistant professor of English and technical communication at Missouri S&T
- “Understanding a Parent’s Legacy” by Dr. Tom Meuser, clinical psychologist and applied gerontologist at the University of Missouri-St. Louis
- “Importance of a Universal Technological Education” by Dr. William Schonberg, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering at Missouri S&T
