The campus community is invited to attend two presentations by Dr. Jie Shen in March. Shen is an elected fellow of the American Mathematical Society, a professor of mathematics and director of the Center for Computational and Applied Mathematics at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He will present:

• “Fast Spectral Methods: Algorithms, Analysis and Applications,” designed for a general audience, 4:20-5:20 p.m. (with refreshments at 4:10 p.m.), Monday, March 6, in Room 318 Butler-Carlton Hall
• “Phase-field Models for Multiphase Complex Fluids: Modeling, Numerical Analysis and Simulations,” 4:20-5:20 p.m. (with refreshments at 4:10 p.m.), Tuesday, March 7, in Room 121 Butler-Carlton Hall

Shen’s visit and talks are presented as part of Missouri S&T’s mathematics and statistics department’s Ingram Lecture Series. The Ingram Lecture Series is supported by an endowment created by W.T.
