Women are needed to volunteer as guides from 8:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the 17th annual Expanding Your Horizons conference on Friday, Oct. 21, on the Missouri S&T campus. The event brings more than 450 students to campus, helping seventh- and eighth-grade girls learn about careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
During the conference, attendees interact with women working in traditionally male occupations. The girls participate in hands-on workshops, meet other young women with similar interests, and learn about career opportunities.
Female faculty, staff, students and community members are encouraged to volunteer. Guiding is easy and enjoyable and is a great way to contribute to the students’ experience on campus.
Lunch will be provided for the guides. To volunteer, please contact Michelle Wiginton, student support specialist, by Friday, Oct. 14, at 341-4835 or wigintonm@mst.edu. Learn more about the event at eyh.mst.edu.
