Mindfulness-based stress reduction is designed to help change your relationship with stress and begin to live a more conscious life to make choices and engage in behaviors that increase your vitality, effectiveness and happiness. Since its inception, the mindfulness-based stress reduction program has been used with groups around the world as diverse as corporate employees, CEOs, educators, students (grade school through college), attorneys, prison inmates, healthcare professionals and Olympic and professional athletes–including the world champion Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers basketball teams. Who enrolls in MBSR? Members of the community, any faculty, staff, retirees or family member who would like to respond with more skill and creativity to life’s stresses. Participants commit to regular practice and class attendance.

The course normally costs $180, but UM System employees pay $40, and it includes CDs and workbook. There will be a required textbook for the classes; and there is a $20 rebate with attendance of seven of the eight classes. Registration online at regonline.com/mbsrfall2016MST or register in person at the orientation, Tuesday, Sept 6.

Orientation is at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in St. Pat’s Ballroom B of the Havener Center. Classes will span Sept. 13 through Nov. 1, with a full day retreat in October. For more information, contact Maureen Hall at mhall@inspirationcenter.net or 573-368-6858.
